For the retro opening title sequence of the neo-noir film 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang', I brought the character designs vibrantly to life.
Working from illustrations provided, I crafted character animation through a hybrid of techniques to capture the playful retro aesthetic. Custom cycle animations were hand-drawn for key characters to imbue them with sophisticated movement and nuanced emotion.
Complementing these, I employed clever paper cut-out animation to introduce additional characters with lively, off-kilter flair. By blending drawn and cut-out styles, I aimed to transport viewers back to the eclectic animated title sequences of Hollywood's Golden Age.
It was very gratifying to see the finished sequence transport audiences straight into the quirky yet darkly sophisticated world envisioned for the film. Through crafting animation that seamlessly blended technique, my work helped introduce the unconventional characters and set an engaging visual tone from the outset.
